What is BASF Innovation Hub 2022?

BASF Innovation Hub 2022 is a regional pitch event hosted by the world’s leading chemical company BASF, where innovators and start-ups from Central and Southeast Europe offer solutions to key environmental challenges of today in order to gain further funding. This year we focus on Renewables.

Who can apply?

Both individuals and start-ups, established or in a concept stage coming from selected countries: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia, aged 18+ years. If this is you, BASF wants to help you to develop your idea further.

What your solution needs to fulfil in order to qualify for the BASF Innovation Hub 2022 ?

Regardless of the development phase, from concept to scaleup, BASF can help you to move your innovation solution or start-up forward.

Your idea needs to cover one of the following topics:
Clean energy
Digital solutions that focus on increasing process and energy efficiency, solutions for increasing the share of renewable energies in the power supply (thermal, solar, wind), thermal energy and insulation solutions, optimizing heating and cooling and ventilation, decarbonizing energy systems and/or promoting zero-emission technologies
Smart transportation
Lithium-ion battery materials, biofuels (additives), fuel cell materials, electromagnetic impenetrable materials and/or environment friendly but resistant materials for EQ housing
Farm to fork
Precision application technologies, digital farming advisory services, digital farming solutions, solutions that contribute to more sustainable food systems, selective crop protection products and/or biological crop protection

Prepare your pitch deck
Present
Present the idea in front of a local jury and secure your place at BASF Innovation Hub 2022 Grand Finale together with an initial investment of EUR 2,500 gross
Extend
Winning the local event automatically extends your participation to the Grand Finale, where your idea will be challenged together with 5 others
The winner announcement!
Becoming a winner of BASF Innovation Hub 2022 Grand Finale will provide you with an additional funding in the amount of EUR 5,000 gross to further develop your idea – You get to decide how to spend it, even if the solution will not be further supported by BASF

About the program

After a pilot project in 2018 and Start-up Science in 2020, in 2021 we have organized the first ever series of events under the name of BASF Innovation Hub 2021. The idea behind them was to support innovators and start-ups in their search for solutions to key environmental challenges of today. BASF Innovation Hub 2021 saw the participation of innovators and Jury members from 11 countries in Central and Southeast Europe, 13+ hours of Live streams divided into 5 local events and one Grand Finale, and with 10k+ viewers - showcased the need to keep fostering innovation and exploring the potential of prominent start-ups. Together with the objective to reach UN Sustainable Goals and make the EU Green Deal a success, BASF decided to continue establishing strong partnerships and community networks, resulting in development of BASF Innovation Hub 2022. The topic is Renewables, including three subtopics with endless possibilities for ideas. 11 countries, 6 local events, 1 Grand Finale and total funding in the amount of EUR 20,000.
